From arranging events to problem solving, there’s never one day the same for lodge manager Anne-Marie Taylor who left her career as a hotel manager to settle into her new role at Churchill Living.
Anne-Marie is the Lodge Manager at Churchill’s Sheldon Lodge on the High Street in Berkhamsted where she oversees the day to day running of the development.
She had previously spent 20 years working in the hotel and catering industry, first as an area manager for a well-known hotel group before opening her own hotel in Northamptonshire with her husband, a business they enjoyed running for five years.
Anne-Marie said: “I wanted a change of career but something that would build on all of my hospitality experience. I’ve always enjoyed the customer care side of my previous role, which was what drew me to the Lodge Manager role. I pride myself on running Sheldon Lodge to the highest quality as if it was a hotel and looking after all of the needs of our Owners.”
Anne-Marie lives in the local village of Studham with her husband and is on-site five days a week.
She added: “Every day at the Lodge is different, which I thoroughly enjoy. I’m often answering queries or problem solving for our existing Owners, and if someone new is moving in, making sure they have everything they need and are settling in well.
“We have a wonderful sense of community at Sheldon Lodge and a lot of active Owners so there is always something going on. I like to arrange events in the Owners’ Lounge as often as I can, including coffee mornings, afternoon teas and film clubs. My husband is a chef so for Christmas we put together a full Christmas lunch for everyone to enjoy.”
Sheldon Lodge is a stylish collection of 48 one and two bedroom privately-owned retirement apartments. Each apartment has been designed exclusively for those in their retirement years and has a number of safety and security features, such as a 24 hour emergency call line and a video entry system, for complete peace of mind.
The development is set in landscaped grounds in a central location, just a short distance from public transport links, shops and all the local amenities on offer in Berkhamsted.
