Competition winner announced after naming new retirement development in Pinner

A local resident is celebrating after being announced as the lucky winner of a competition to name Churchill Living’s new development on Marsh Road in Pinner.

Michael Cohen, who has lived locally for over 10 years, was presented with a cheque for £100 at a naming ceremony for the new Heath Lodge development.

Mr Cohen said: “I saw the competition advertised and wanted to think of a name that had a nice historical connection to the area. The Heath Robinson Museum, which celebrates the work of English cartoonist and illustrator William Heath Robinson, is based here in Pinner.

“In 1908, with a growing family, he moved to Hatch End near Pinner and then into the village itself. His brother was already living in Pinner and it’s widely reported that they often enjoyed meeting in the Queen’s Head pub in the High Street with their artist friends. It was in Pinner that the finest of his book illustrations were made, as well as much of the work that established him as a humourist so I thought this was an ideal name for the Lodge.”Yvette Christy,

Yvette Christy, regional marketing executive at Churchill Living, said: “At Churchill, we like to involve the local community in choosing the names for our developments and we often do so by running a competition asking for suggestions. We received a vast number of entries for the new Pinner development and we are pleased to have awarded Mr Cohen with his winning cheque.”

Heath Lodge, which is currently under construction, will comprise 30 private, self-contained apartments that are specially designed for the over 60s with features such as a video-entry system, lift to all floors, a 24 hour care and support system and a Lodge Manager. Communal facilities will include an Owners’ Lounge, Guest Suite and landscaped gardens.

Like all Churchill Living Developments, the location has been chosen for convenience and is within easy walking distance of the wide selection of shops and amenities in Pinner.

Heath Lodge is due to launch in February 2018. For more information or to register your interest or please call 0800 458 1847.
