Gareth Johnson MP cuts the ribbon at Dartford retirement development

Local MP Gareth Johnson joined Churchill Living this week to officially open its retirement development in Dartford, Keyes Lodge.

Locals visited the Lodge on King Edward Avenue to see Mr Johnson take part in an official ribbon cutting ceremony with Churchill’s Regional Managing Director, Ian Byers, and Land and Planning Director, Andrew Burgess.

Visitors to the event were also given the opportunity to view the development’s beautiful Show Complex, before being treated to a glass of fizz and canapés in the Owners’ Lounge.

Gareth Johnson MP said: “I was pleased to be asked to open the new Keyes Lodge development in my constituency, and it was an honour to cut the ribbon. Retirement properties are a crucial part of helping to unblock the UK’s housing crisis and Churchill’s new development is a significant addition to the housing provision here in Dartford.

Specialist retirement housing is proven to have a beneficial effect on older people’s health and wellbeing, be it from being in a modern, warm, well insulated home to having a sense of community which helps to beat loneliness. It was also heartening to meet the new Owners now calling Keyes Lodge home and hear so many positive stories from them.

Keyes Lodge is a collection of 68 one and two bedroom privately owned retirement apartments and shared facilities, designed exclusively for the over 60s. Offering quality retirement accommodation and safe and independent living, the development is in a convenient location close to local shops and amenities.

Apartments boast spacious rooms throughout and an ideal combination of design and functionality. The fully fitted, stylish kitchens include a built in fridge and freezer, hob and an oven, which is located at an easy-reach height. All of the properties benefit from illuminated light switches for added convenience. Owners also enjoy ultimate peace of mind from a fitted camera entry system for the highest level of security and a 24 hour emergency call system.

With less to worry about, Owners will have more time to do the things they enjoy, including taking advantage of the host of other benefits which will be on offer including having family or friends to stay in the development’s well-appointed Guest Suite, enjoying a chat with neighbours, or attending one of the many events in the Owners’ Lounge and Coffee Bar.
