Local sporting legend Bob Wilson joined Owners at Churchill Living‘s new Rothesay Lodge development in Highcliffe recently, and was presented with a cheque for £2,500 towards his Willow Foundation charity. The donation comes through Churchill’s own charitable arm – the Churchill Foundation – and follows Bob’s recent recognition at the Churchill Awards, an annual celebration of the achievements of the over 65s.
Founded by Bob and his wife Megs in memory of their daughter, the Willow Foundation is the only national charity working with seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable Special Days. Since 1999 Willow has fulfilled more than 15,000 Special Days for young adults living with life-threatening conditions such as cancer, motor neurone disease, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy and Huntington’s disease.
Bob Wilson said:
It was a pleasure to meet the Owners at Rothesay Lodge, and I’d like to thank Churchill for this generous donation to Willow. It will mean our team can deliver more Special Days to young adults who really need them, creating happy memories and something to look forward to during difficult times.
Deborah Waldeck, Regional Marketing Executive at Churchill Living, added:
At Churchill we believe strongly in giving something back to the community through our charitable arm the Churchill Foundation, and we understand the importance of living a happy and fulfilling life whatever your age, so we’re delighted to support the Willow Foundation’s excellent and very important work with young adults. Our Owners thoroughly enjoyed meeting Bob and hearing his inspiring stories about the charity, as well as his tales from an impressive sporting career.
