A local Taunton resident is celebrating after winning a competition to name Churchill Living’s new development on Tangier Way. And after she generously requested to donate her winnings to Taunton Foodbank, the local charity is celebrating too.
Gillian Keniston-Goble entered Churchill’s competition to name the new development and came up with the name “Riverain Lodge” in a nod to the development’s riverside location. Churchill’s charity arm has match-funded the usual prize of £100, meaning a total of £200 will go towards the charity which helps local people in crisis.
Explaining her reason for choosing the name, Gillian said: “I was delighted to hear of Churchill’s decision to accept the name Riverain Lodge. Taunton is twinned with Lisieux in Normandy and whilst I’m not a fluent French speaker, with a check on the Internet I came up with the name ‘Riverain’ which means ‘by the water’ or ‘riverside’. I thought the creative reference would be fitting for the development as it’s so close to the river.”
Presenting the cheque to Taunton Foodbank alongside Gillian, Churchill’s Regional Marketing Executive Jo Ridehalgh said:
At Churchill we like to involve the local community in choosing the names for our developments and we often do so by running a competition asking for suggestions. We received lots of great entries for our new Taunton development, and Riverain Lodge was our favourite. We were delighted to award Gillian’s £100 prize to Taunton Foodbank, after she kindly chose to donate her winnings to this excellent local charity, and even more delighted that our charitable arm was able to double the total donation to £200.
Riverain Lodge will comprise 72 private, self-contained apartments specially designed for the over 60s with features such as a video-entry system, lift to all floors, a 24 hour care and support system and a Lodge Manager provided by Churchill’s own management company Millstream Management Services. Shared facilities will include an Owners’ Lounge, Guest Suite and landscaped gardens.
Like all Churchill Living developments, the location has been chosen for convenience and is just a short walk from local shops and amenities in Taunton.
