How a new Churchill apartment could help reduce your costs:

Now is the time to take stock and think about how much time and money you have spent over the past year on house maintenance. If the answer is far too much, then a lifestyle with fewer maintenance worries and a service charge that’s easy to budget for could be the answer to saving money and enjoying more of your time on the things you love.

There are many misconceptions about service charges and many of our Owners are pleasantly surprised that the service charges for their apartment frequently work out less than what they were paying in comparable costs on their previous property.

Our Service Charge typically covers the cost of providing a Lodge Manager, security systems and call monitoring, external maintenance of the building and grounds, building insurance, heating, lighting and provision of all of the furnishings for the Owners’ Lounge and communal areas – all essential ingredients of the independent lifestyle our developments provide.

We always aim to keep the service charge cost as low as possible, and we provide a full budget breakdown for all our Owners to consider, consulting with them on this every 6 months.

“Living in a Churchill Apartment is absolutely marvellous. The whole building is so nice and warm all the time that we’ve hardly had to use the heating inside our apartment. When we do turn it up a notch or two it’s nice to know we don’t have to worry about the cost or the environmental impact, as it’s all so energy efficient and covered within our annual service charge.”

John and Doreen Pitt, Lewis Carroll Lodge, Cheltenham

We appreciate everyone’s household costs will differ which is why we encourage Customers to complete a ‘Savings Calculator’ with one of our Sales Executives. This calculator is designed to offer a comprehensive understanding of the value in our easy to budget Service Charge.

Local area

Close to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Taunton is the county town of Somerset and has a rich and interesting history, famous for both its castle and cricket ground. It has recently been awarded Garden Town status and there are exciting plans to create more green spaces as well as enhance and make the most of the beautiful riverside environment.

  • The town is sheltered by the Blackdown and Quantock Hills, both AONB’s (Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and with the river and canal running through the centre, there’s the offer of plenty of walks locally.
  • The development is located in the heart of town and so is ideally placed for shops, amenities and eating out, as well as enjoying panoramic views of the River Tone.
  • The town centre has a good selection of well known high street brands including Marks & Spencer and Waterstones, and a selection of independent stores and cafes offering everything you need.
  • In addition, the town hosts a twice-weekly market in the high street and a weekly Farmers’ Market which all add to the town’s bustling atmosphere.
  • The Brewhouse Theatre and Arts Centre offers a wide choice of musical and theatre productions as well as art exhibitions and is an ideal choice for those looking for a bit of culture. The town itself hosts a range of events including the Rural Living Show and the annual Taunton Flower Show in Vivary Park.
  • Locally there are a number of beautiful villages and seaside resorts to explore including Dulverton, Wiveliscombe & Minehead. In addition, the great houses of Hestercombe House and Gardens, Poundisford Park and Knightshayes Court are all within easy reach.
  • Transport links are strong with a regular bus service connecting residents to towns including Glastonbury, Minehead, Wellingon and Exeter, as well as the beautiful Exmoor villages.
  • Just a short drive away is Taunton Railway Station and Junction 25 of the M5, both of which connect you to major towns and cities.

Testimonials

Rob Herd

“The train station is within walking distance of the Lodge. I recently took my bike on the train to Torquay (which is only an hour away) for a day out by the sea. I also spend time exploring the local area on my bike, visiting local villages”

Bill & Pat Gosling

“We used the Home Exchange service to sell our old house and it was very stress free process, Churchill did everything for us. Now we have stress free living with no pressure. The management of the development is great, we have a good programme of events each week that are not compulsory, but there if required. We have made lots of new friends, people from all walks of life, and everyone is very friendly.”

Mercedes Bryant

“From the moment Churchill approached me on the phone initially, I felt very positive in the way things were handled. At the beginning of the buying process I had a nice, charming Sales Executive who was not at all pushy. The Churchill team were very good and efficient throughout the process of buying and moving into my apartment. I felt that I could easily approach them if I had any doubts or queries.”

Jean & Roy Woolley

“Everyone here has made the same decision to share the warmth of independent living, where we are part of a community but still with our own front door key so we can keep our own company. We also enjoy warmth from the friendly Lodge Manager with an ear that listens and helps whenever the need arises. And of course we enjoy the warmth of our new comfy, cosy apartment.

Geoff Sharpe

“Personally, I am very happy here. The Lodge Manager and other management staff are very pleasant and helpful. I especially like the feeling of calm and peacefulness as soon as you enter the building.”

Elizabeth Eames

“We have a Lodge Manager who is always available to answer any queries, as well as a beautiful Owners’ Lounge where we can all get together for tea and cakes or just to sit and chat with the other apartment Owners whenever we feel the need. There is always someone to chat to whenever you come down to the Lounge.”

Phyllis Colpsus

“I chose my apartment in Taunton, Somerset, because of the space it offered and the beautiful views. From my balcony, I watch the River Tone flow past and people can be seen canoeing. Across from the river I can also see a park with lovely mature trees and a grassed area which is nice for children to play on. To anyone else considering a move here I would say come and visit us, have a look around and see for yourself what a wonderful community we have here.”
