Fareham Site Manager Takes ‘Pride In The Job’

Tom Geoghegan, site manager at Thackeray Lodge in Fareham, is celebrating after receiving a prestigious industry award from the National Home Building Council (NHBC).

Tom has been recognised in the 2024 Pride in the Job Quality Awards for his contribution to creating apartments of exceptional quality and standard. Pride in the Job is the most highly regarded competition in the house-building industry, inspiring site managers to make their mark on the industry and providing a prestigious benchmark for exceptional work.

More than 8,000 site managers across the UK were entered this year, with only 449 winners selected, putting Tom within the industry’s top five per cent who demonstrate the passion, commitment and leadership to deliver new homes to the highest possible standard.

Tom will now go through to the next stage of the competition, the Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards, taking place in November this year.

Clinton McCarthy, Managing Director for Churchill Living, comments: “These awards recognise an unwavering commitment to creating homes of the highest standard and are testament to the hard work of Tom, his team and subcontractor partners. The housing and construction market has seen a difficult couple of years, but the commitment of our teams to deliver the best possible apartments for our customers has not diminished. My thanks go to Tom and his team at Thackeray Lodge for taking pride in the job and delivering an exceptional development for local over 60s to enjoy. We wish Tom further luck for the Regional Awards in November.”

As well as undergoing spot checks of the day-to-day running of their site, each site manager is assessed across different areas of site management, including build quality, teamwork and processes.

Pride in the Job winner Tom adds: “I am over the moon to receive such a prestigious award within our industry, and to be recognised for doing my job and building apartments to an exceptional standard. Winning a Pride in the Job award is not easy and cannot be done alone. I am incredibly lucky to have a hard-working team around me who all share my determination and dedication to ensuring a high quality product for our Owners at Thackeray Lodge.”
