Our first Owners settle in at Fareham’s new Thackeray Lodge development

We've given a warm welcome to our first new Owners at Thackeray Lodge in Fareham, who are settling in well to the safe and friendly community of over 60s, enjoying all the benefits of freedom and independence in their new apartments just a short walk from the town centre.

Jenny Reeve was one of the very first to move in, and has this to say about life in her new apartment: “It was a big move for me, and downsizing from my old place was hard, but I had plenty of support from my family and from the Churchill team and now it’s done I can look forward to enjoying life in my new apartment. I’m closer to my daughter and her family who live nearby, and I’m enjoying getting to know people at our regular get-togethers in the Owners’ Lounge. There is something to get involved with most days if I feel like joining in, and everyone is very nice and friendly.

Glenys and Steve Withers were also among the first to move in, and are active and enthusiastic members of the new community at the development. Steve says: “We have weekly coffee mornings, film afternoons, tea at three on Fridays and a regular fish & chip Friday, it’s very sociable and everyone is very nice. Our Lodge Manager Amanda also runs exercise sessions every Thursday, suitable for all abilities, which is a good workout and helps to burn off a few calories. At first we were eating lots of cake whenever we got together in the Owners’ Lounge, so we’ve tried to cut back on that a bit and make sure we do the exercise sessions!”

On the benefits of being in the heart of town, Eileen Hutchings adds: “I’ve always lived near to Fareham but now I’m right in the centre of things and it’s such a great location, with all the shops and the doctor’s surgery all on my doorstep. I have a beautiful new apartment and more time on my hands to do the things I enjoy.”

Thackeray Lodge on Trinity Street is a collection of 37 one and two bedroom apartments with integrated kitchens, beautiful landscaped gardens, and a Lodge Manager to provide a friendly face throughout the week. Owners also benefit from a 24-hour call centre support system, a Guest Suite for family and friends to visit and a large Owners’ Lounge with a coffee bar.
