Churchill is Highly Commended: by the Owners

Churchill Living’s Hamlet Lodge in Gloucester and Concorde Lodge in Filton have been awarded Highly Commended in the EAC National Housing for Older People Awards. These awards publicly celebrate excellence in housing for older people and their findings will help to create even better accommodation in the future for the UK’s ageing population.

Perhaps the best aspect of the awards is that it is the residents themselves who vote for their scheme or development. It’s a fun process too: people get together for a card game that uses a star rating system for every aspect of their home and the services provided. The judging categories include safety and security, gardens, the quality of the staff and the maintenance, the individual apartments, and the less tangible but equally important topics of community spirit, activities and outings, and links with the broader community.

Hamlet Lodge and Concorde Lodge did very well in all categories, with Owners scoring three, three-and-a-half or four stars (out of a maximum of four) in almost every category. In some of them, the score put them in the top 10% of all the entries nationwide.
