South Croydon resident Geoffrey Lummes received a Christmas gift to remember when he was selected as guest of honour at Churchill Living’s Festive Cheer event at Sanderson Lodge in Seldson.
Geoff was nominated as a ‘Festive VIP’ by his neighbour Rita, who felt that he deserved a treat this Christmas in recognition of his dedication to helping out his neighbours and being an unsung hero in the local community.
At the event on Friday 15th December Geoff was presented with a special Christmas hamper and £100 M&S voucher, and joined the apartment Owners for the festivities in the development’s cosy Owners’ Lounge.
Churchill’s ‘Festive Cheer’ initiative had asked people up and down the country to nominate someone who deserved to be rewarded for their volunteering or charity work this year, or someone who is lonely or has faced some hard times, or simply a loved one who deserves to be spoiled this Christmas.
Local resident Rita Upchurch, who nominated Geoff for the award, said: “Geoffrey looks after the whole street, feeding animals, helping everyone with deliveries, helping people with lifts, and much more. Nothing is too much trouble for him, and his kindness is very much appreciated. No one deserves to be nominated for a festive treat more than him.”
Churchill’s Senior Marketing Manager Anne Scherrer added: “Our Festive Cheer events were designed to spread some seasonal magic, and we’re delighted to have done that for Geoff here in Selsdon, he is certainly a very deserving winner.”
Churchill provides purpose-built one and two bedroom privately-owned apartments for the over 60s, set amongst attractive landscaped gardens. All developments come with an Owners’ Lounge for events and socialising, a Guest Suite where family and friends can stay, a Lodge Manager, free parking, secure camera entry and a 24-hour call centre support system.
