Churchill welcomes creation of new Minister for Loneliness

“Appointing Tracey Crouch as Minister for Loneliness is a very positive move by the Government, and it’s good to see them tackling this important issue. Alongside our Brand Ambassador Dame Esther Rantzen, we’ve been working hard for years to raise awareness about the impact of loneliness, particularly for older people. Our charity partner The Silver Line was also directly involved in the Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness, which was instrumental in creating this new role.

“Of course one of the most effective ways to avoid loneliness, especially for older people, is to live in a supportive community with friends and neighbours close by and regular social contact. Many of our Owners have had their lives transformed by moving to a Churchill apartment, leaving behind a large empty house to live in a warm, friendly environment surrounded by like-minded people, with regular social activities in the Owners’ Lounge to join is as and when they want to.

“I hope that as part of her new role Tracey Crouch will support the need for more specialist retirement housing to help combat our loneliness epidemic.”
