Oxted ‘Men in Sheds’ group helps install bug houses at Charrington Lodge

Apartment Owners at Charrington Lodge in Oxted enjoyed a visit from the local ‘Men in Sheds’ group at the Woodhouse Centre, to install some bug houses that will provide new habitats and enhance biodiversity in the development’s communal gardens.

Sales Executive Karen Hills said: “It was great to welcome Lucas and Patrick, who help run the Oxted Men in Sheds group, and Liz from the Woodhouse Centre where it’s held, and we’re very grateful to them for installing these lovely bug houses to ‘rewild’ and promote a wider variety of nature in our beautiful communal gardens. I’m sure it’s something all our Owners will enjoy seeing!”

Men in Sheds is an increasingly popular idea that is known to provide mental health benefits for older men and women who are seeking skill-sharing, social interaction and community projects with a sense of purpose. The shed provides a meeting place, with tools and resources for our members to work on projects at their own pace and in a friendly and inclusive venue, creating items like the bug hotels that can be shared with the community.
