Deal school children learn about site safety

Children from Sandown School in Deal welcomed the construction team from Churchill Living’s new Ark Lane development into their school for a special site safety assembly on Thursday 15th November.

Site Manager Jay Bourne and his trusty sidekick Charlie the Churchill Bear visited the school to teach pupils all about safety on building sites, as well as giving them an insight into the day-to-day activities on site, and how Churchill builds its retirement apartments.

Donna Goggin, Deputy Headteacher at Sandown School, said: “We are extremely grateful to Churchill Living for visiting the school to give a talk during assembly time – it was a great opportunity for the children to discover what workers do on site each day and to ask the Site Manager lots of questions. They all enjoyed meeting Charlie Bear especially, and it might have even inspired some of them to consider a career in construction when they grow up!”

Site Manager Jay said:

It’s so important for children to understand the dangers of playing on building sites, especially when one is so close to their school, so we were pleased to pay the school a visit. It was wonderful to see the children’s enthusiasm for listening and learning about how we build our apartments, and how excited they were to meet Charlie.

Churchill’s new development on Ark Lane will comprise 41 private one and two bedroom apartments specially-designed for the over 60s, with features such as a video-entry system, lifts to all floors, a 24-hour Careline support system, and a Lodge Manager.

With less to worry about, Owners will have more time to do the things they enjoy, such as having family or friends to stay in the development’s Guest Suite, enjoying a chat with friendly neighbours, or attending one of the regular social events in the Owners’ Lounge.
