Fun and games for local school pupils at Andover’s Chantry Lodge

Pupils from Andover CofE Primary School visited Churchill Living’s Chantry Lodge in the heart of Andover to learn about toys from the past with the apartment Owners.

Children joined the Owners in the Lodge’s cosy communal lounge to learn about famous toys from the past as part of a ‘Toys Through Time’ event, comparing older toys and games with those of today. The visit marks the ongoing partnership between Chantry Lodge and the school, as Churchill looks to build community links and connect the generations in the town.

Teacher Mrs Morrison said:

The children were so excited at the opportunity to visit everyone at Chantry Lodge and they thoroughly enjoyed it. It was lovely to see the children learning about all of the games from when the Owners were younger, their favourites were definitely the tiddlywinks and marbles. We’re so grateful for Churchill Living for inviting us, and we look forward to planning our next visit.

Michael De Kock, Lodge Manager at Chantry Lodge, said: “We really enjoyed the visit from the children. The Owners really enjoy getting involved with events like this, and it’s one of the many different community events and social activities that take place in our friendly Owners’ Lounge. We’ll look forward to welcoming the children back again soon.”

Chantry Lodge comprises 70 one and two bedroom privately owned retirement apartments and shared facilities, designed exclusively for the over 60s. Offering quality retirement accommodation and safe and independent living, the development is in a convenient location close to local shops and amenities.

With less to worry about, Owners have more time to do the things they enjoy, like having family or friends to stay in the development’s well-appointed Guest Suite, enjoying a chat with neighbours in the landscaped gardens, or attending one of the regular social events, in the Owners’ Lounge.
