Local school children help make retirement garden a wildlife haven

Children from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Sale became budding wildlife enthusiasts this week after visiting Churchill Living’s Brindley Lodge development.

Nine children from the school’s Eco Group were invited by the Lodge to help make its garden more wildlife friendly by adding a selection of bird feeders, bug homes and hedgehog hotels to the development on Hope Road. They were assisted by some of the Lodge’s Owners who were on hand to explain about the different wildlife living in the garden.

Vanessa Heath, teacher at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, who organises the weekly Eco Group with colleague Mrs Brookes, said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Brindley Lodge and were fascinated as the Owners explained all about the different birds and bugs in the garden. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to work with the local community, and we’ll be returning to the Lodge in a few weeks’ time to see how the wildlife has taken to the new homes.”

Rachel Walsh, regional sales manager at Churchill Living, said: “We were delighted to host the children from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and were grateful for their help in making our Brindley Lodge garden somewhere really special for wildlife. The children were absolutely fantastic and we look forward to inviting them back later in the autumn to see how their project is developing.”

Brindley Lodge is a stylish collection of one and two bedroom privately-owned retirement apartments, where over 75% of the properties have already sold. Each apartment has been designed exclusively for those in their retirement years and has a number of safety and security features, such as a 24 hour emergency call line and a video entry system, for complete peace of mind.

There is also an on-site Lodge Manager, who oversees the running of the development, and an Owners’ Lounge, which can be used as a place to enjoy a catch up with like-minded neighbours, or for holding events.

The development is set in landscaped grounds in a central location, just a short distance from public transport links, shops and all the local amenities on offer in Sale.
