Owners at Newbury retirement development raise over £1,000 for local Parkinson’s charity

Owners at Churchill Living’s Avonbank Lodge in Newbury have presented a cheque for £1,126.36 to the local branch of the Parkinson’s UK charity, following a successful Christmas Fayre and match-funding from Churchill’s charitable arm, the Churchill Foundation.

The Newbury branch of Parkinson’s UK is close to the hearts of several apartment Owners at Avonbank Lodge, who organised a special Christmas Fayre fundraising event to raise £563.18 for the charity. The Churchill Foundation, which supports a wide variety of charities in the communities where Churchill operates, generously agreed to match this amount, doubling the overall total raised.

Receiving the cheque on 29th January 2020, The Chairman of Parkinson’s Newbury Bruce Blaine said: “We’re extremely grateful to the Churchill Foundation and the Owners at Avonbank Lodge for this very generous donation. Support like this is incredibly valuable to ensure we can keep providing information, friendship and support to local people with Parkinson’s, as well as regular exercise therapies and social activities for them and their families and carers to enjoy.”

Avonbank Lodge is an age exclusive development on West Street, right in the heart of Newbury town centre. For more information on Avonbank Lodge, call 01635 592601 or visit www.churchillretirement.co.uk.
