TV personality hosts charity valuation day

Renowned auctioneer and TV personality Philip Allwood made a special visit to Churchill Living’s Beecham Lodge in Cirencester last week for a charity valuation event.

Mr Allwood from Moore Allen & Innocent, who is a regular face on daytime TV, visited the Lodge on Somerford Road to share his expert advice with Owners and visitors, as well as valuing their treasures.

Owners and visitors were asked to make a £3 donation for each item they had valued by Philip and raised a total of £100. All of the money raised on the day is being donated to The Nelson Trust Charity, who provide a residential treatment centre and comprehensive programme of care and support for people seeking recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.

Beecham Lodge apartment Owner Sylvia Hadlow had a number of items valued by Philip, including an antique charm bracelet. She said: “I had a number of items in my home that I was intrigued to know the history of so it was a wonderful opportunity to meet Philip. He was particularly interested in my gold charm bracelet. My husband bought it for me a long time ago and everyone in my family has put their own charm on it over the years so it really means a lot to me.

“This was one of a great list of events that are held here regularly at Beecham Lodge. From charity coffee mornings to fish and chip suppers, to shopping events and cinema outings, there is always something going on and I’m very pleased I made the decision to move here.”

Rachel Walsh, regional sales manager at Churchill Living, said: “It was a real coup for us to have Philip offering valuations at the Lodge, especially for people that were already familiar with his work on Bargain Hunt and Dickinson’s Real Deal. We’ve all got mystery items in our homes either passed onto us by family members or acquired from unusual places so it was great to see what treasures people had to show Philip.

“Our Owners and visitors always thoroughly enjoy attending all of the different types of events that we host in our Owners’ Lounges and this was no exception. We had a wonderful turnout and are delighted with the amount raised from the event to help contribute towards the wonderful work that The Nelson Trust do.”
