Love blossoms this Valentine’s Day for Rob and Maxine at Eliot Lodge

Love is in the air at Churchill’s Eliot Lodge in Ashbourne, where apartment owners Rob Beck and Maxine Broadbent have recently announced their engagement!

Rob and Maxine met soon after moving into their respective apartments at Eliot Lodge, where they were both among the first to move in when the development launched back in 2019. Having both been widowed, they immediately got on well and enjoyed each other’s company as they settled into the social atmosphere at the Lodge.

Their relationship blossomed during walks together in the Derbyshire countryside, and since becoming a couple they have enjoyed a variety of fun adventures together in recent years. These include an 8 day tour around the UK on the ‘Northern Belle’ train; a 73 mile walk along the Thames Path from Oxford to Windsor; a European rail adventure to the likes of Austria, Prague and Budapest; a visit to Munich where Maxine’s sister lives; walking around Guernsey; and exploring a shared interest in photography and art.

The couple recently went on a PGL Outdoor Activity Weekend with Maxine's extended family where they were told that they were the oldest couple to ride on the giant swing!

Rob popped the question to Maxine on Christmas Day and she said yes straight away. They’re now planning a quiet ceremony in the spring, followed by a nice big party with their friends and relatives shortly afterwards. There are sure to be more corks popping at Eliot Lodge to celebrate the occasion!
