When Celia Forsberg moved to her brand new apartment at Churchill’s Rothesay Lodge retirement development in Highcliffe, it was only a matter of weeks before she’d bought a new wetsuit too, so she could make the most of sea swimming from the beautiful beaches on her doorstep. It’s a reflection of her enthusiasm for trying new things and embracing her new life on the south coast, after relocating from Cheshire to be nearer to her family.
My parents also retired here many years ago, so I was already familiar with the area.
I looked at a couple of other Churchill developments, but when I came here and saw the beach I fell in love with it straight away, and I knew I wanted to be near the sea.

“I’ve been very busy getting to know everyone and getting involved in the local community,” says Celia. “I’m on the Highcliffe in Bloom committee, I help run an after school club with the local church, and I’m helping the local Rotary Club. I enjoy a very busy lifestyle and it’s been wonderful making new friends here at Rothesay Lodge and in my new neighbourhood in general.”
On the joy of being near the water Celia adds:
I love swimming! The beach is only seven minutes’ walk from my front door, and although it’s been a bit chilly this early in the year I’m looking forward to getting in a lot more swimming during the summer months, and possibly even joining a local swimming group.
Celia’s lust for life is as strong as ever since her move, and without the hassle of a large house and garden to look after, she is a fine example of how the Churchill lifestyle gives you more time to spend doing the things you enjoy.
