Churchill Living has welcomed its first Owners at Rothesay Lodge, in Highcliffe-on-Sea, where a thriving community is starting to take shape.
The age-exclusive development, on Stuart Road, which comprises 48 brand new one and two bedroom apartments has seen the first wave of Owners move into their new homes, including 81 year old Mary South. Mary moved into Rothesay Lodge earlier this year from her home in Surrey.
Mary explains: “I came from North London, and went to live in Hampshire when I got married, as my husband was in the navy. His job took us all around England and Scotland (and Singapore for three years during the 1960s).
“When my husband passed away a few years ago, I lived alone and experienced a few break-ins and my family started to worry about my safety. I was so unsettled by the whole experience. It was then that I decided to look into retirement living. I received a Churchill brochure through the post, and went to look at the Penzance development, which was lovely but too far from any of my family. I was looking for something near the sea and when I saw Rothesay Lodge I fell in love with the locality, the apartments and the staff, who were extremely helpful and reassuring.
“Now that I’m living in the lodge, I am back to my old self, and have become more outgoing and enthusiastic again. I can honestly say moving here has changed my life.”
As well as the self-contained individual apartments, Rothesay Lodge also offers shared facilities for all the Owners to enjoy together.
I enjoy sitting in the Owners’ Lounge and having a cup of tea with my new friends, and I have made a close friend with one of the Owners in particular. We have different events going on, such as a welcoming cheese and wine afternoon, a weekly coffee morning and sometimes just some nice evening drinks, and we are also arranging a Chinese evening.
“The Lodge manager is a fantastic person, who is welcoming, helpful and always on hand to listen to us or help with anything worrying. Without the help of such a fantastic team, I don’t think I would’ve settled in as well as I have, and it’s given my family peace of mind knowing that I am settled, safe and secure in my new home.”
All I can say is Churchill does exactly what it says it will, and I can’t recommend it enough. I love telling people where I live, and telling them how great Churchill is.
The apartments at Rothesay Lodge boast spacious rooms throughout, considerately designed with the over 60s in mind. The fully fitted, stylish kitchens include a built in fridge and freezer, hob and an oven, which is located at an easy-reach height. All of the properties benefit from easy-turn lever taps in both the kitchen and bathroom and illuminated light switches for added convenience. Owners also enjoy ultimate peace of mind from a fitted camera entry system for the highest level of security and a 24 hour emergency call system.
A Resident Lodge Manager oversees the day-to-day running of the development and Owners can take advantage of the host of other benefits on offer, including having family or friends to stay in the development’s well-appointed Guest Suite, enjoying a chat with neighbours, or attending one of the regular social events in the Owners’ Lounge.
The Lodge is also just a short distance from public transport links, shops and all the local amenities on offer in Highcliffe.
