When Myke and June Potter met with friends for lunch at the Noisy Lobster restaurant in Highcliffe, little did they know it would be the start of a whole new life for them on the sunny south coast. Nine weeks later they were collecting the keys for a brand new apartment at Churchill’s Rothesay Lodge retirement development in the heart of the popular seaside town.
“We used to come down from our old home in Chandler’s Ford to meet our friends from Worth Matravers,” recalls Myke.
The Noisy Lobster at Avon Beach was a nice halfway meeting point for us both, and we’d been there many times. One day, we were heading home after a nice lunch when a big sign for Churchill apartments caught my eye, and on the spur of the moment we decided to pop in and have a look. We’d been talking about downsizing since we retired, but nothing in our local area really took our fancy. When we saw the new apartments at Rothesay Lodge, we just thought why not go for it?
With the help of Churchill’s downsizing advice and moving services, the Potters had moved in within a couple of months with minimal fuss, and they’re now enjoying the benefits of a new lifestyle by the sea. “The move itself went very smoothly,” says Myke. “The Churchill team and Lisa our Lodge Manager were all very helpful, and the Home Exchange service, downsizing advice and free removals service took so much of the hassle away.”
Now the convenience of living in a low maintenance apartment means they can spend more time relaxing, socialising and doing the things they want to do with their retirement. “We love the sea air, and we just seem so busy!” says June. “It’s so nice to be able to go down to the Owners’ Lounge for things like fish & chip nights and other social events, when we can fit them in. We’ve even had Halloween and New Year’s Eve parties which were great fun. Our new neighbours are all very friendly and sociable. We’re much happier here by the sea, and we feel like we’ve really fallen on our feet!”
The brand new apartments at Rothesay Lodge boast spacious rooms throughout, considerately designed with the over 60s in mind. The fully fitted, stylish kitchens include a built in fridge and freezer, hob and an oven, which is located at an easy-reach height. All of the properties benefit from easy-turn lever taps in both the kitchen and bathroom and illuminated light switches for added convenience. Owners also enjoy ultimate peace of mind from a fitted camera entry system for the highest level of security and a 24 hour emergency call system.
A Lodge Manager oversees the day-to-day running of the development and Owners can take advantage of the host of other benefits on offer, including having family or friends to stay in the development’s well-appointed Guest Suite, enjoying a chat with neighbours, or attending one of the regular social events in the Owners’ Lounge.
The Lodge is also just a short distance from public transport links, shops and all the local amenities on offer in Highcliffe.
