Local MP lays special date plaque at new Abingdon retirement development

Local MP Layla Moran visited Churchill Living’s new Albert Lodge development in Abingdon last week to install a special date plaque. She was also given an exclusive tour of the site, where construction is progressing well.

Churchill’s Regional Managing Director James Barnes said: “We were delighted that Layla Moran was able to join us to mark this occasion, as we will be welcoming people to Albert Lodge’s new Show Complex in Spring 2020 to give them a taste of what the Churchill lifestyle is all about. Our private one and two bedroom apartments offer security, peace of mind and independent living, along with community and support, and we’ve already seen lots of interest from local over 60s keen to find out more about how they can benefit from what we offer. ”

Layla added: “I was delighted to be able to install the special date plaque at the Albert Lodge development in Abingdon last week. During the visit, I asked the team what they were doing to ensure that the new buildings were environmentally friendly, and I was pleased to hear that the air source heating they are installing will help do exactly that.

As loneliness increases and the need for more housing grows, retirement properties like Albert Lodge will help to ensure that retirees have the help they need, and that more housing stock is released into the market. It will also help to decrease the risk of house building on the green belt.

Albert Lodge will comprise 39 privately owned, self-contained apartments that are specially designed for the over 60s. Offering quality retirement accommodation and safe and independent living, the development is in a convenient location close to local shops and amenities.

Churchill will hold an information day on Friday 22nd November at the Hilton Garden Inn, Abingdon, from 11am to 3pm, where people can come and find out more.
