Churchill Living’s new development on Normandy Drive in the heart of Yate has been named Trewin Lodge, in honour of local war hero Leonard Trewin, a champion of the local community.
Leonard Trewin is a 94-year-old war veteran from Yate who has recently been awarded the Legion d'Honneur by the French government for his service in helping to liberate France during the Normandy Landings. He will be returning to Normandy in June 2019 to receive the medal at a special service for the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
Churchill’s Regional Marketing Executive Jo Ridehalgh said:
For every new Churchill development we try to choose a name with a strong connection to the local community. We are delighted to be able to honour Leonard’s incredible service to his country and the town, and to recognise his more recent achievements by naming Trewin Lodge after him. He is an excellent example of someone who continues to thrive at the age of 94, and we hope Trewin Lodge will be a place where many others can follow his example and enjoy their retirement years to the full.

I am honoured my name is being used in naming this development and hope all who live here will have a long and happy retirement.
Trewin Lodge will comprise 62 private, self-contained apartments specially designed for the over 60s with features such as a video-entry system, lift to all floors, a 24 hour care and support system and a Lodge Manager provided by Churchill’s own management company Millstream Management Services. Shared facilities will include an Owners’ Lounge, Guest Suite and landscaped gardens.
Like all Churchill Living developments, the location has been chosen for convenience and is just a short walk from local shops and amenities of Yate’s town centre.
