Welcome Centre opens at new retirement development in Bridport

Churchill Living, the UK’s fastest growing privately owned retirement housebuilder, has opened an on-site Welcome Centre at its new Alfred Lodge development in Bridport due to high demand from local retirees.

Over a third of the apartments have already been reserved off plan and potential purchasers are being encouraged to make an appointment to visit the new Welcome Centre adjacent to the site on Rax Lane to secure one of the purpose built one and two bedroom retirement apartments.

Caroline Haswell, regional marketing manager for Churchill Living said: “With more than 11.1 million people in the UK aged 65 or over, we believe better provision of housing for older people and the need to ensure there are sufficient, good quality retirement living options to meet the needs of an ageing population is an absolute priority.

“Our properties offer security, peace of mind and independent living, along with community and support.  Being in a manageable home with no maintenance can offer a new lease of life for people – ensuring they are close to amenities, and surrounded by a new community.  We are delighted to be bringing our new development to Bridport.  We have already seen lots of interest from local over 60s keen to find out more about the benefits of retirement living which is why we have opened a Welcome Centre ahead of the official Show Complex launch in May.”

The new development will comprise 26 privately owned, self-contained apartments that are specially designed for the over 60s.  Offering quality retirement accommodation and safe and independent living, the development is in a convenient location close to local shops and amenities.

Apartments will boast spacious rooms throughout and an ideal combination of design and functionality. The fully fitted, stylish kitchens include a built in fridge and freezer, hob and an oven, which is located at an easy-reach height. All of the properties benefit from illuminated light switches for added convenience. Owners also enjoy ultimate peace of mind from a fitted camera entry system for the highest level of security and a 24 hour emergency call system.

With less to worry about, Owners will have more time to do the things they enjoy, including taking advantage of the host of other benefits which will be on offer including having family or friends to stay in the development’s well-appointed Guest Suite, and enjoying a chat with neighbours, or attending one of the many events, in the Owners’ Lounge.  They can also benefit from Churchill’s Reward Card which gives them access to exclusive deals and discounts on a variety of national brands and local retailers.

Alfred Lodge is named after King Alfred the Great who created the ‘Burgh of Brydian’ establishing the town as a burgh in the 9th century.  The development is well located for the town’s thriving high street which is home to a number of independent family-run shops alongside some well-known high street stores and a bustling street market.

Classed as a Beacon Town, Bridport is recognised for the high quality and variety of local food and you will find a wealth of award winning local food producers, pubs and restaurants in and around the town.  The Arts Centre and Electric Palace present an exciting programme of film, theatre, music, comedy and dance, and the town is also home to some fabulous open parks including the Millennium Green and Borough Gardens.

Bridport lies around a mile from the coast at West Bay, a charming fishing village on the famous Jurassic Coastline, with large stretches of shingle beaches either side of a small harbour with pleasure crafts and fishing boats. The South West Coast Path, the longest National Trail in the country passes along the cliffs at West Bay and is perfect for an afternoon stroll, enjoying the far-reaching views across the Devon Coastline and observing the local wildlife.
