North Yorkshire still to this day is home to many grand castles, abbeys, monastic houses and more. Just one example is Byland Abbey – an outstanding example of early gothic architecture that inspired much of the design of York Minster. As well as the Abbey, there’s a Circular walk from Byland Abbey via Mount Snever Observatory which anyone can enjoy.
